We Did a Nude Photoshoot… and It Changed Us More Than We Expected

There are certain experiences that sound intimidating at first, but end up becoming the moments you remember most—the moments that shift something inside you.

Recently, I had one of those moments. I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and walk into a nude photoshoot… and I didn’t do it alone. Eleni & Brittney, Starlight's OG staff members joined me, and together we created one of the most unexpectedly powerful days of our lives.

As affiliates of Nuovo Photography, we’ve seen countless women talk about how life-changing their sessions are. We hear them describe feeling strong, beautiful, healed, confident—transformed. And honestly? We wanted to know what that really felt like. We wanted to experience the same vulnerability and liberation we've heard about.

So we booked our own session. And here’s what happened.

Your makeup & hair is FREE just like the photoshoot. Here I am with Filipa, the makeup artist who slayed my face.

Nuovo photoshoots come with hair, makeup, champagne, and charcuterie boards... all for FREE. The catch is, if you like your photos (and you will), you pay per photo. There is no obligation, but you will fall in love just like we did.

The all female Nuovo team greeted us with such calm, respectful energy that within minutes we felt safe, welcomed, and surprisingly comfortable.

They walked us through every step, explained how the experience works, and reassured us that we were in full control of our boundaries, comfort, and poses.

Suddenly, it didn’t feel like a photoshoot about nudity. It felt like a photoshoot about identity.

The Experience: Hair, Makeup, a Private Photoshoot

Getting glammed for the shoot was so much fun. The makeup and hair artists were amazing, and we sipped mimosas as we prepared for the shoot. When it came time to face the lense, we were excited and feeling empowered.

The shoot is done solo, with a welcoming female photographer. I chose my colour of fabric, and slipped out of our day clothes.

At this point I felt excited and beautiful already. Fully covered the photographer walked me through the opening poses.

When it came time to drop the cloth, I did so with no fear.

Each pose was instructed by the photographer, as she spoke affirmations of my beauty, and gently perfectsed my posture through direction.

Each of us had our own moment when something shifted.

Brittney said she felt a wave of appreciation for her body.

Eleni said she finally felt a confidence she’d lost.

And for me… it was a reminder that the body I live in every day deserves celebration, not criticism.

It was a feeling of being fully present and unapologetically myself.

We laughed. We hyped each other up. We supported each other in a way that made the day feel almost therapeutic. It felt like the best girls day ever.

I loved my shots, and picked 11 to take home.

Choosing the Shots & Celebrating Ourselves

One of the most beautiful things about the Nuovo experience is that it’s not sexual, it’s not performative, and it’s not for anyone else’s gaze (unless you want it to be).

It’s a celebration of womanhood, confidence, vulnerability, and strength. It’s about stepping into your own presence without shrinking.

It’s about honoring your body at whatever stage it’s in.

There is something incredibly healing about seeing yourself captured through an artistic, respectful, empowering lens.

After the shoot was finished I was brought upstairs with the photographer who I already felt bonded to.

She pulled up my photos on a computer screen, and my jaw dropped. They were STUNNING.

Because we are so bonded, I was able to sit with Eleni and Brittey as they saw their photos too.

Eleni was sentimental and shed tears. She said "my husband is going to drop dead when he see this".

Brittney loved so many she could barely narrow her choices down.
