What is Alex/Yag Photorejuvenation?

At Starlight, Alex/YAG treatment is an advanced gold standard laser used in medical practices for over a decade. Alex/Yag Photorejuvation is a dual laser solution designed to address various skin concerns, including pigmentation issues, vascular lesions, and unwanted hair.

What is laser machine is used?

The Lutronic Clarity non-invasive laser therapy device is used for our Alex/Yag photorejuvenation treatment.  It utilizes both Alexandrite and YAG lasers/wavelengths to target and improve various skin conditions. This dual laser is able to work on all skin colours (Fitzpatrick types 1-6), while keeping dark tones safe and comfortable.

How does the combination of Alexandrite and YAG lasers benefit the treatment?

The dual-wavelength system allows for versatile treatment options. The Alexandrite laser is effective for targeting pigmentation issues, while the YAG laser is suitable for vascular lesions.

What conditions can be treated with Alex/YAG Photorejuvenation?

This treatment is suitable for addressing a range of skin concerns, including sun spots, age spots, freckles, acne, scarring and vascular lesions such as spider veins, broken capillaries.

How long does each session take?

Sessions are relatively quick ranging from 15 minutes to 60 minutes.  The duration of a session varies depending on the specific treatment area and the concern being addressed.

How many sessions are required for optimal results?

The number of sessions needed varies based on individual skin conditions and treatment goals.  A series of 3 sessions is recommended for optimal results.  Packages  are recommended for optimal and long-lasting results.

What package is Alex/Yag part of?

Alex/Yag Photorejuvenation is part of our Platinum package.  This package includes 3 session and ensures the best skincare results while lowering the cost per treatment (saving money and getting better skin? Yes please).

Is there any downtime after the treatment?

Generally, there is minimal downtime associated with Alex/YAG treatment. Patients may experience mild redness or swelling, but these effects are temporary. The technology is designed to delivers results with minimal downtime. When treating dark spots such as freckles, age spots or sun damage, the pigment will get darker and may scab/crust. This can take up to 7+ days to fully heal depending on treatment intensity.

Is the treatment suitable for all skin types?

Alex/YAG treatment is designed to be safe and effective for a wide range of skin types. Starting with a consultation with one of our master medical aestheticians is recommended to determine the most suitable approach to help reach your skin goals. 

How should you prepare for your treatment?

Before your treatment discontinue topical retinoids/retinols 5 days prior to treatment.

Discontinue active ingredients (exfoliants and serums) 2-3 days prior to treatment.

Avoid any prolonged exposure to the sun, tanning beds or self-tanners for 5-7 days prior to treatment.

Please inform us of any medications you are taking prior to the appointment.Avoid taking light-sensitive medications (antibiotics, etc) for 2 weeks prior to the appointment.

Avoid any injectables such as Botox or filler for 2 weeks before and after treatment.

Is Alex/YAG Photorejuvenation painful?

During treatment a cool shot of cryogenic air is shot out, keeping the skin cool. This makes laser very tolerable compared to other machines on the market. You will be completely comfortable!
